My father used to love telling the story about a man that he knew who graduated high school, went to work on the initial construction project for Interestate 45 South from Houston to Galveston, put in his forty (40) years, got the infamous gold watch ...
and TexDot is still working on the road { and I last heard my father tell that story in 1992 } .
